Garage Ceiling Racks in Dallas Fort Worth

Nu Garage installs garage ceiling racks across Dallas Fort Worth. Get the bins, coolers and holiday boxes off the floor and into the open space over your cars.

Garage Ceiling Racks for Dallas and Fort Worth Homes

Nu Garage installs garage ceiling racks across Dallas Fort Worth, from Euless and Grapevine out to Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington and Plano. Overhead racks use the dead space above your vehicles to hold the bins, tubs and seasonal gear that usually end up stacked against the walls.

Every rack we install is a SafeRacks heavy-duty steel unit. We size it to your garage, set the height around your door and vehicles, and fasten it into the ceiling framing, not just the drywall.

Why Overhead Storage Works

Most garages have several feet of open air between the roofs of the cars and the ceiling. That space is the easiest storage to add, because it takes nothing away from parking or the workbench.

One 4 x 8 foot rack set at its deepest drop holds about 120 cubic feet of storage. That is room for a full set of holiday decorations, camping gear or a season of sports equipment on a single rack. Everyday items stay on shelving and in cabinets at arm’s height.

SafeRacks: The Garage Ceiling Racks We Install

Nathan Obermeyer started Nu Garage in 2004 installing SafeRacks, and we still install them today. They are built for loads that light-duty hardware-store racks are not.

  • 14-gauge steel C-channel beams for strength and stability
  • Powder-coated finish that resists rust and scuffs
  • Up to 600 pounds of capacity on a 4 x 8 rack
  • 11 sizes, from 2 x 2 up to 4 x 8 feet
  • Adjustable drop height to clear doors, openers and vehicles
  • Limited lifetime product warranty from SafeRacks

A rack’s rating only matters if the ceiling can carry it. That is why we fasten every rack into the joists or trusses and size the load to your framing.

How We Install Garage Ceiling Racks

  1. Phone consultation. Tell us what you want to store and send a few photos. We give you a guaranteed price over the phone.
  2. Measure and plan. We check ceiling height, the garage door track, the opener rail and the lights so the rack never blocks a moving part.
  3. Find the framing. We locate the joists or trusses and mount the rack into solid wood.
  4. Set the height. Each rack is adjusted to clear your tallest vehicle and the open garage door.
  5. Load test and walkthrough. We check that the rack is level and secure before we leave.

A standard install takes about an hour per rack, so most garages are done in a single visit.

Choosing the Right Size and Height

The best spot for a rack is usually along a side wall or at the back of the garage, over the hoods of the cars. That keeps it clear of the door and opener path.

SafeRacks drop heights run from about 12 inches to 45 inches below the ceiling. A shorter drop works over vehicles, and a deeper drop works in back corners where nothing needs to pass underneath.

Most two-car garages fit two 4 x 8 racks. Narrow or oddly shaped garages often do better with 2 x 8 or 3 x 8 racks run along a wall. We recommend the layout during your consultation.

Garage Ceiling Racks FAQ

How much weight can a garage ceiling rack hold?

The largest SafeRacks unit, the 4 x 8, is rated for up to 600 pounds. The real limit is your ceiling framing, so we fasten into joists or trusses and plan the load around them.

Will a rack get in the way of my garage door?

No. We measure the door track and opener path first and place the rack outside of it.

How long does installation take?

About an hour per rack. Most two-rack jobs are finished in one visit.

Which areas do you serve?

Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Plano, Irving, Grapevine, Euless and surrounding DFW communities.
